Charity Boxes
Tzedakah--the Hebrew term for “charity”—is derived from the Hebrew Tzadeh- Dalet Kof, meaning justice or fairness. Giving to the poor is considered not an act of generosity as much as it is an act of justice, and a duty. Tzedakah Charity Boxes are used for collecting coins for the poor. Our charity box program in Israel has been very successful in helping us defray expenses. It is a long standing custom to put a donation into a charity box before lighting Shabbos candles, Chanukah candles, or performing any mitzvah. Some feel it auspicious to put a donation into the Charity box before making a prayer request.
Ezer Yoldot Hamercazi will soon be sending it's Charity boxes to many cities in America. If you would like to receive an Ezer Yoldot Hamercazi Charity box , please email us at ezeryoldot@012.net.il
